About Us

History

Harrisburg Early Learning Center (formerly Harrisburg Preschool & Daycare) was organized in April 1980. During this period, our center cared for 32 children. In 2001, the Board of Trustees recognized a need for infant/toddler care in the community and expanded the facilities and services to provide care for 12 infants and toddlers. In 2007, our Board of Trustees, recognizing a need to expand language and literacy education to our preschool children, partnered with First Chance for Children to implement the Emerging Language and Literacy Curriculum. A new preschool classroom was added on in 2008 to provide these additional services and HELC is now licensed by the state of Missouri to provide care for 60 children.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide quality and affordable early childhood education for the
children of northern Boone County, regardless of social or economic status, in an
environment that is safe, as well as educationally and developmentally appropriate.
