Services we provide at HELC
Social/Emotional Screenings
Social/emotional screenings, developmental screenings, and social skills testing will be administered to all children in our Early Childhood classrooms. Children ages 3 weeks to 5 years old will be screened with ASQ's and ASQ-SE2's. A baseline will be conducted in both screenings and a second will be conducted 6 months later. Additional screenings will take place if we detect any delays or need for referrals. The preschool children ages 3 to 5 years old will be tested by a baseline Social Skills ELLC (Emerging Language & Literacy Curriculum) checklist and ongoing progress monitoring will take place quarterly thereafter.
Scholarships
We understand the rising costs in households with utilities increasing, grocery prices, providing for children, medical costs and emergencies that can happen. We want every child to have access to high quality care and affordable tuition. Our program offers scholarships for working families (residing in Boone County) that still need financial assistance after state subsidies and for families facing economic hardship. Scholarships also benefit those with a single income that do not qualify for state assistance. Please contact our Administrative Office for more details. We can discuss your financial situation in private and collect more information to see how we can better assist you.
Out of School Programming
School age children (ages 5 to 13 years old) receive quality and structured before and after school programming, as well as summer enrichment programming. Our School Age Program is open Mondays from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm and before and after school on Tuesday through Friday. Our room has several learning centers and staff provide assistance with homework and tutoring. The School Age program is open during the summer months and breaks from school such as Spring Break and Christmas break. We continue providing academic enrichment in the summer to increase their knowledge in Math, Science, Language, Social Studies and Reading.
Early Child Care Programming
(Child Development Education and Early Childhood Education)
Early Child Care Programming (for children ages 3 weeks to 5 years) consists of caregivers and educators delivering services such as teaching, care giving, administering social/emotional screenings, developmental screenings and data collection. The preschool children ages 3-5 have access to eleven learning centers and thematic units every two weeks with the instruction of the Emerging Language and Literacy Curriculum (ELLC). Children in the preschool classroom are screened with additional testing by the ELLC checklists (social skills, motor skills, pre-writing, pre-academic, oral language, phonological awareness, and literacy). We want to sure that all of our children are meeting all developmental milestones and ready to succeed in Kindergarten.
Thank you to our funders and partnerships!
Our partnerships and collaborations with Boone County Children’s Services Fund, Heart of Missouri United Way, EC-PBS (Early Childhood Positive Behavior Support), and the Daniel Boone Regional Library all increase the quality and effectiveness of our program.
The funding we receive from Boone County Children's Services Fund allows us to provide scholarships for families residing in Boone County, out of school programming and social/emotional screenings for the children and families we serve.
Our funding received from the Heart of Missouri United Way allows us to provide Early Child Care programming. With their generous support, we are able to provide affordable and high quality care for our children. With ongoing progress monitoring, we can track our children's developmental milestones and ensure they are ready for kindergarten success.
Our collaboration with EC-PBS (Early Childhood Positive Behavior Support) provides training and weekly coaching for our educators and caregivers. Their support provides a better learning environment with the assistance of positive social-emotional development of our children, reduced challenging behaviors and provide our educators and caregivers with the tools they need to build positive relationships with others.
Daniel Boone Regional Library helps to support early childhood literacy by sending Bookmobile, Jr. to our center. Every month, they bring library resources, DVD's and books for our children to enjoy.
We are so grateful for all of the support we receive for our children!
